Although I much prefer the AW 07/08 collection, Starstyling are still rocking their thing. This rainbow boho abugrahib/guantanamo piece is fun for all seasons. I think we'll be showing at the Jessica Silverman gallery in SF with these guys in August, so am looking forward to seeing it in person.
The Bunny of Willendorf created by Niels Cosman is some where between a tribute and a parody of the Venus of Willendorf, a small fertility statuette discovered by archaeologists Josef Szombathy in the early 1900's in Austria. This bunny stands a mere 3 inches high, and just like the original, is intended to be held in your hand for it doesn't stand up on it's own. Niel currently has his masters in industrial design from the Rhode Island School of Design, and resides in Brooklyn where he teaches cold working at the Rhode Island School of Design.
Just back from LA and want to thank Rose Apodaca and Andy Griffith who own and run A+R in Los Angeles (soon to be the world). Their generosity of spirit is only slightly eclipsed by their aesthetic sophistication, humor and energy. I have very few role models in this world so it's an extreme honor to have these two in my life. thanks to A+R. Some images from the LA trip are available here, and A+R online store is here.
Post Secret has officially become my Sunday morning guilty pleasure. Ever since 2005 Frank Warren has created a safe haven for people to send in their deepest, darkest, and sometimes silliest secrets to the site anonymously. Ever since it's start there have been thousands of submissions of quirky and beautiful original pieces of art that have been sent in as post cards. If you haven't checked this website out and bookmarked it, you better get on it now. You'll be happy you did.
