This seemed appropriate considering the Olympic moment, Greece is for Lovers based out of yes you guessed it, Athens. We just heard from them and they seem to be our first port of call the next time we hit Athens.
Just back from LA and want to thank Rose Apodaca and Andy Griffith who own and run A+R in Los Angeles (soon to be the world). Their generosity of spirit is only slightly eclipsed by their aesthetic sophistication, humor and energy. I have very few role models in this world so it's an extreme honor to have these two in my life. thanks to A+R. Some images from the LA trip are available here, and A+R online store is here.
Rolf Sachs study in 2004 of the Austrian mountain view from Rechenau in Bavaria, is a familiar format, the taking of repetitive images of a single view over a long period of time, this time lapse effect often seems no more than a jarring portrait of personal obsessions. Sachs however brings a poetry in his selection of those images, some 50,000 were taken over the year.
Thanks to Eric and his team from Stamen for showing me new ways of seeing, their interpolation of Digs news feed is not only an aesthetically rivetting but informationally inspiring. Many thanks to all at Stamen. oh, and there's this which is just fun and pretty.
As we observe the power of brands, and marketing takes on militaristic tones of guerilla, viral and the like. It takes me back to the late 90's. I'm unsure of which name commands more, Prada or Baader Meinhof but the combination creates a new dynamic and dilutes the originals.
Cha Cha Supermarket's collection of rugs, cushions and lampshades caught our eye at ICFF. Shown here is one of their many rugs, Swingers. I don't think they could have found a more perfect name.
Missed this, until this morning, Richard Shed's Hidden Cabinet, makes a case for eclecticism as the battle between traditions of modernity and classicism create it's offspring.
